Inspire Excellence!  NEXT?! Wednesday, November 2, 2011 Dear AMP! supporters! Congrats to Happy, Anne, and it looks like... Arturo! Thank you to all of you for being such a dynamic part of this world these past few months! Congratulations to ALL of us for giving Denver something to focus upon BESIDES GLOOM! I expect each of you to join me in continuing to improve EVERY school... because Josie and I BELIEVE that you do really care about what happens to our kids. Personal loss and struggles continue to dominate more than just our education system. I want you to know that Joe, Josie, and I are here for you if you need to talk, move your body,... or sing! If you need another LOVE TAG, let me know! So far...10,000 Denver people said in 2011 "I BELIEVE in Art, Music, and Physical Fitness! THE AIR IS HUMMING... CAUSE SOMETHING GREAT IS COMING!... There's gotta be SHUMWAY to convince folks that the research REALLY does show that science. math, technology, language arts, and civics are ALL learned best when you AMP! the Brain! There's gotta be SHUMWAY to mobilize the community to get behind the efforts to improve each and every school! There's gotta be SHUMWAY to promote healthy learning AND show fiscal responsibility that benefits the kids AND their teachers and principals. I ran for the DPSchool Board At-Large position because research shows that children educated in the arts - visual, musical, and physical - learn better overall.

I believe that formerly skeptical people are ready to learn how compassionate process and intention trumps winning. I believe the DPS Board would benefit from this approach. I spent the last 2 years (since my District 4 2009 run for school board) studying, learning, serving, and trying to understand this massive entity called DPS and the public education system.. for which I received no compensation. I humbly submit that I have a unique, healthy approach to problem-solving and creating harmony amongst folks of differing views. I am now ready to be a great public servant.
